UST Training: Pattern Play Day 2
I. 4 Lines Long, Short, Long Pattern Warm Up
Work on technical ability to hit a 15-25 yard pass on the ground and the ability to lay off a pass
II. Attacking Half Pattern Play
As the defending team begins to take away the pass to the winger we need to hit our forwards with the pass. If we have not understood the first two patterns review those and bring this pattern in tomorrow.
Outside back- forward- CM- OM in space
Outside back-forward-center mid- switch to outside back
III. 10v6 To Goal With Counter Goals
Play for 4 minutes, unlimited tries, balls always start with the wide back
Each attacking unit gets 2 tries in a row
Key Points
- Move the ball quick
- When you have space on the outside, take it
- Look to get the ball to the wingers
- Runs by the forwards in the box
- Types of service by the wide players
- Defenders use this as conditioning and work as hard as possible (Defenders have to score in 3 passes or less)
Make It Competitive
+1 for winning a corner kick
+1 for a shot on goal
+5 for a goal
+1 for defending team goal
