ITD Training- January 19
I) Individual Ball Skills- Moves to Beat Players
- Side Step
- In & Out
- Scissors
II) 1v1 to 4 Goals
Set Up
- Grid is 15x10 yards with pugg goals at each corner
- 2 teams with each player having a ball
Procedure
- The starting attacking team dribbles a ball out to start the game and the first defender steps onto the field to defend her
- The attacker attempts to score a goal by passing the ball into the pugg goal
- If a goal is scored or the ball goes over the end line a new defender steps on, the attacking player stays on the field
- If the defender wins the ball, she tries to score
- If the ball goes out of bounds on the side line, both players are off and the team who did not kick the ball out brings the new ball on
Key Points
- Setting up your move with a good angel to beat the defender
- Changing speed in the set up of the move (some times start slow and accelerate, other times go fast the entire time to throw the defender off) keep the defender guessing with how you will beat them!
- What move to do when based on where the defender is
- Avoiding the smash- even though we are trying to beat the defender and go by her, we want to protect the ball- We will add in that you can play back to the next person in your line to avoid the smash
III) 1v1 to Pugg Goals
Set Up
- Field is 15x10 yards with one pugg goal on the middle of each end line
- 2 teams with each player having a ball
Procedure
- Same set up as the last game, except now there is only one goal to score on
IV) 4v4 Scrimmage
The key to this scrimmage is can the kids recognize when they have a 1v1 and take that opportunity. We will have to combine all of the movement we have been doing to create these 1v1's and then have players who have the confidence to take their 1v1 when they have the opportunity.
