1/26 Training- Keep The Ball And Find Targets

We're on top at the moment, but not because of the club's financial power. We are in contention for a lot of trophies because of my hard work, coaching sessions and the team ethic I have instilled here. My philosophy is that you don't win a game during 90 minutes.
A winning team is made day by day, training session by training session, minute by minute.
At team has to play in the image of their coach. They have to be able to do things with their eyes closed. That isn't about money or having people working together for years. It is about me making them work hard and putting on good training sessions.
Then the success will come.

0-10 Tennis Ball Work
10-20 Footskills Routine
Today we added part number four of the routine and the girls are completing it between 1:40 and 2:00 minutes.
20-30 Controlling The Ball
This is the third thing that will become a staple of each of our training sessions. Being able to control the ball is the most important thing when it comes to attacking futbol. If you cannot control the ball well with your first touch you will constantly be rushed and you will make many bad decisions with the ball when you are out of control.
It has been tough for me to stick to our opening 20 minutes of tennis ball work and our footskills routine during some of our sessions because I really want to get into the topic for the day. Adding in a third thing, that I feel is very important to do each training, will leave me less time for the day's topic, but if I can stick to these three things every training session, any topic that we cover will run a lot smoother because we will have the skills to accomplish so much.
I know I've been guilty of it in when I have great ideas of how I want my teams to play and we work on it, but then they cannot execute under the pressure of the game because we have not spent enough time working on basic footskills and trapping. Especially as a coach of young players, I need to make sure to devote more time to technique. The ideas will come easy if the players have the technique to perform the skills asked of them.
30-50 3v3 Plus Targets To Four Goals
Set Up:
3 Red Players, 3 Blue Players, 2 Neutrals
(Each team provides a neutral)
Procedure:
-Red and Blue play 3v3 in the middle and try to score by dribbling through either of the two goals they are attacking.
-You can play the ball to either target on the end lines.
Make It Competitive:
-1 Point for dribbling the ball through
-2 Points for a give and go with the target
-3 Points if you find the target player and she plays somebody else in for the goal.
Key Points:
-Play simple. You have a 5v3 on offense. If nothing is on, play the ball support and keep moving.
-Try to play the target early.
-Keep moving while keeping the passing lanes open for the targets.
-Look to run off the targets.
-Targets keep moving to find the passing lanes.
50-75 Scrimmage- Keep Looking
The point I emphasized over and over again today was to keep looking around you. Every two to three seconds you need to look at the entire field and update your mental map of where everyone is on the field.
